Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rolled out the fixtures for the opening event of the 2025–26 domestic cricket calendar — the Hanif Mohammad Trophy — featuring 12 regional squads aiming to climb the ladder to Pakistan’s top-tier cricket.
This year’s tournament divides teams into two competitive pools:
-
Pool A: Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Karachi Whites, Lahore Blues, and Quetta
-
Pool B: Dera Murad Jamali, FATA, Karachi Blues, Larkana, Multan, and Rawalpindi
The tournament kicks off on August 29, with Lahore Blues facing Faisalabad in the opening clash.
Over the course of nearly four weeks — running until September 25 — the trophy will host 30 four-day matches that fall under the non–first-class category. Each side will take part in five round-robin encounters within their respective groups.
At the end of the group stage, the top team from each pool will secure a place in the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan’s elite first-class cricket competition.
The Hanif Mohammad Trophy serves as a proving ground for raw talent from across the nation’s regions — offering a platform for up-and-coming players to break into higher levels of competitive cricket.
With emerging cricketers eager to make their mark and selectors watching closely, the tournament is expected to deliver high-intensity matches and strong regional rivalries.
