US Bombers Flew Through Indian Airspace in Iran Strike: Reports

ISLAMABAD:
US B-2 stealth bombers reportedly used Indian airspace to conduct strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, according to multiple regional sources cited on Sunday.

The bombers, which took off from Guam Island in the western Pacific, are said to have flown over the Andaman Sea, traversed central India, and entered the Arabian Sea before reaching targets near Iran.

The reported route highlights a major development in regional dynamics amid an escalating Middle East conflict.

Sources traced the flight path through coordinates ranging from 15°N, 145°E (Guam), through 10°N, 95°–100°E (Andaman Sea), over 20°N, 75°–80°E (central India), and finally into the area near Iran’s eastern border at 25°–30°N, 60°–65°E.

While the US and Indian governments have not officially confirmed this airspace usage, the development has sparked considerable geopolitical interest.

India’s Role Raises Strategic Questions

Defence analysts believe the alleged airspace coordination could signal a shift in India’s strategic alignment.

“This might indicate a new chapter in the regional security calculus,” said one analyst in local media.

The absence of denial or acknowledgment from New Delhi has left observers speculating on the depth of India-US military cooperation.

Analysts say such a move, even if logistical, may indicate India’s growing comfort with US-led strategic operations in the region.

This also raises questions about future airspace sharing, neutrality, and India’s balancing act between Washington and Tehran.

Operation Midnight and Regional Fallout

The US strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure included over 125 aircraft, 14 bunker-buster bombs, and two dozen Tomahawk missiles under what was codenamed “Operation Midnight.”

President Donald Trump called the operation a “spectacular military success,” claiming Iran’s key nuclear sites were “totally obliterated.”

Tehran, however, has condemned the attack as a “brutal military aggression” and accused Washington of violating the UN Charter.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry warned of serious consequences, holding the US fully accountable for what it described as a “heinous crime.”

The United States’ involvement follows more than a week of Israeli attacks on Iran, which Iran blames for provoking the current escalation.

With B-2 bombers potentially crossing Indian skies, defence experts now see this as a sign of India’s evolving strategic posture in a rapidly shifting regional landscape.
