Sialkot: Heavy rainfall has resulted in flooding at Sialkot International Airport, forcing authorities to suspend all flight operations from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. today.
Airport officials confirmed that the suspension applies to all arrivals and departures during this timeframe to ensure passenger safety and prevent any emergency incidents. An official Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued by aviation authorities to inform all relevant parties.
According to local reports, floodwaters exerted pressure on the southern section of the airport, prompting immediate deployment of machinery and rescue teams. Dewatering pumps are actively engaged in draining water to safeguard the runway and other vital airport infrastructure.
Officials emphasized that major portions of the runway, terminal, and parking facilities remain unaffected and that no critical airport equipment is currently at risk.
Continuous monitoring is underway, with expectations that flight operations will resume as usual after 10 p.m.
