Tokyo: At the Tokyo World Athletics Championship, Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem was unable to secure a spot in the medal rounds of the javelin throw final. Despite a strong start, two fouls during his fourth round attempts prevented him from qualifying among the top eight finalists.
Similarly, India’s defending champion Neeraj Chopra also failed to advance to the medal stage of the competition.
The gold medal was claimed by Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott, who delivered an impressive performance. Silver went to Anderson Peters of Grenada, while Curtis Thompson earned the bronze.
Arshad’s initial throw measured 82.73 meters, followed by a foul on his second attempt. His third throw improved to 83.75 meters, but a second foul in the fourth attempt dashed his hopes. After consecutive fouls, Arshad consulted with his coach Salman Butt for guidance.
