The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that Israeli airstrikes directly impacted the underground sections of Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility. The assessment was based on high-resolution satellite imagery analyzed in the days following the attack.
Underground Enrichment Halls Hit
In a statement posted on social media platform X, the IAEA reported fresh evidence pointing to structural damage at the underground uranium enrichment halls. The strikes occurred last Friday and mark a significant escalation in the ongoing regional tensions.
Broader Tensions and IAEA Resolution
On June 12, the IAEA Board of Governors passed a resolution against Iran, accusing it of violating nuclear non-proliferation commitments — the first such action in 20 years. The vote saw 19 in favor, 3 against, and 11 abstentions.
In response, Iran’s military launched early drills aimed at monitoring enemy movements, further deepening the standoff.
Observers fear that these developments may undermine diplomatic efforts and increase the risk of broader conflict in the region.
