ISLAMABAD: The United Nations has issued a strong call for an immediate and independent investigation into the deadly shootings near aid distribution sites in Gaza, where dozens of Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces while trying to obtain food.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, through his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, expressed grave concern over what he called an “unthinkable loss of life” in the besieged enclave.
According to Al Jazeera, Dujarric told reporters that Palestinians are risking—and losing—their lives simply to access basic humanitarian aid. The UN reiterated that those responsible for these killings must be held accountable, calling for a transparent process to uncover the truth behind these deadly incidents.

WHO Condemns Attack on Gaza Dialysis Centre
In a separate development, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus condemned the demolition of the Noura al-Kaabi Kidney Dialysis Centre by Israeli forces. The health facility, located in northern Gaza, previously served around 40 patients each week before being partially evacuated last week.
WHO had successfully relocated 20 out of 23 dialysis machines in an attempt to preserve the life-saving equipment amid escalating violence.
Dr. Tedros emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire and for the protection of all medical facilities and personnel in conflict zones. He reiterated that attacks on healthcare infrastructure are a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and must cease immediately.
Red Cross Reports Mass Casualty Surge Amid Ongoing Strikes
Adding to the humanitarian crisis, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported a record influx of casualties at its field hospital in Gaza. In what it described as the highest number of patients received in a single day, 184 weapon-wounded individuals were admitted, most of whom were injured while attempting to reach food distribution sites.
Meanwhile, air and drone strikes by Israeli forces continue to claim lives across Gaza. Medical sources reported that four people were killed in the Joura area near Khan Younis, and another three in Deir el-Balah, with several more wounded in both attacks.
