Seven Arrested After Altercation Outside Iran Embassy in London

LONDON: Seven men were arrested on Friday following an altercation outside the Iranian embassy in London that left two men injured, police confirmed.

The Metropolitan Police imposed a ban on protests near the embassy in west London after the arrests, which were made on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Incident and Protest Details

The clash reportedly occurred within the group of protesters who had been demonstrating since Sunday.

These protesters oppose Iran’s clerical leadership and showed support for the exiled Reza Pahlavi, son of the former Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, whose monarchy was overthrown during the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Flags of the ousted monarchy and Israeli flags were displayed during the protests.

Two individuals injured in the altercation were treated at the scene and taken to hospital; their injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

Additionally, another man was arrested for violating the protest ban outside the embassy.

UK Embassy Staff Withdrawn from Iran Amid Rising Tensions

In a related development, the UK announced the temporary withdrawal of its embassy staff from Tehran due to escalating security concerns amid the ongoing war between Israel and Iran.

The UK Foreign Ministry stated that embassy operations will continue remotely for the time being.
