ISLAMABAD: An Israeli airstrike on Evin Prison in Tehran has resulted in the deaths of 71 people, according to Iranian judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir.

The attack, carried out on June 23, targeted Iran’s most infamous prison known for holding political detainees.

This marks an expansion of Israeli strikes beyond military and nuclear sites to symbols of Iran’s ruling establishment.

Casualties and Damage Reported

Jahangir confirmed that among the victims were administrative staff, young military conscripts, detainees, visitors, and nearby residents.

The prison’s administrative building sustained significant damage in the strike, leading to casualties and injuries.

Remaining detainees were relocated to other prisons within Tehran province to ensure their safety.
