ISLAMABAD: Karachi traffic police have announced a pause in their ongoing campaign against unregistered vehicles and those lacking excise-issued number plates, offering temporary relief to the public during Muharram.
The decision was made in light of Ashura activities and is intended to minimize disturbances and ease public mobility throughout the holy month.
The crackdown will remain suspended until July 15.
Citizens Urged to Register Vehicles Promptly
According to a traffic police spokesperson, the grace period is intended to give vehicle owners enough time to get proper registration and affix the official number plates.
Although enforcement is on hold, the department has strongly advised all drivers to use this time wisely and complete the necessary procedures.
Authorities have attempted to make known that this is limited relaxation rather than an everlasting exemption.
Strict Action to Resume After Deadline
The spokesperson further clarified that after July 15, the crackdown will resume in full force.
Vehicles found without valid registration or proper number plates will be subject to fines or seizure.
The temporary suspension reflects the department’s intent to balance enforcement with public convenience during a sensitive time.
