Deputy PM Ishaq Dar visits Jeddah for OIC extraordinary ministerial meeting

Islamabad :  Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Thursday for a three-day official visit, during which he will take part in the Open-Ended Extraordinary Ministerial Session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Upon arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport, he was warmly received by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC, Fawad Sher, the country’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmad Farooq, and Consul General in Jeddah, Syed Mustafa Rabbani.

The session, set to be held at the OIC General Secretariat, aims to address what member states have termed unlawful measures by Israeli authorities. These include expanding settlements, advancing annexation plans, and attempting to enforce sovereignty over the Occupied West Bank.

At the meeting, Pakistan is expected to clearly present its stance regarding Israel’s recent decision to classify parts of the Occupied West Bank as “state land.” Discussions will focus on the wider implications of these moves and how OIC member nations can collectively respond.

In addition to participating in the ministerial session, Senator Ishaq Dar will conduct bilateral talks with foreign ministers from various OIC countries, further highlighting Pakistan’s position on the ongoing situation in the region.
