Islamabad: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has strongly condemned the recent wave of terrorist incidents across Pakistan, highlighting that militants are gaining ground from Islamabad to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He called for unity in the fight against terrorism and hostile forces, stressing that Pakistan has overcome such challenges in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
Bilawal emphasized the need for political and ideological differences to be set aside in order to ensure the security of the nation. He reaffirmed that no individual has the power to dismantle the 18th Amendment, citing the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment through mutual consultation and agreement among various political parties.
On the matter of the 27th Constitutional Amendment, Bilawal expressed the PPP’s readiness to accept it, provided it meets the party’s conditions. He also called for greater protection of provincial rights and an increase in the powers of local governments, particularly in terms of tax collection, pledging that the PPP would fulfill its targets in this regard.
The PPP leader praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their services, pointing out that they are highly regarded globally, particularly for their success in countering India. He assured the government of his party’s full support on the proposed amendment to Article 243.
Regarding the issue of judicial transfers, Bilawal stated that the Judicial Commission would make the final decision and that judges’ opinions should be taken into account. He thanked the government for ensuring that no judge would be forcibly retired moving forward.
