Karach: During a press conference in Karachi, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, head of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, voiced his apprehensions regarding the lack of an effective voice advocating for the struggles faced by ordinary citizens across the country.
He highlighted a troubling shift in the sugar industry, where Pakistan, once a sugar exporter, has now become dependent on imports. Rehman questioned who bears responsibility for the alarming rise in sugar prices affecting consumers nationwide.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief also criticized the shrinking educational avenues for youth, pointing out that political factions remain engrossed in pursuing their own agendas instead of addressing the real issues confronting the population.
Addressing the electricity crisis, he condemned the government’s practice of overcharging consumers and drew attention to the plight of farmers who are grappling with a shortage of fertilizers, which threatens agricultural output and food security.
Rehman further revealed that their elected mayor in Karachi has been obstructed from fulfilling his duties, yet pledged that his party remains steadfast in its mission to serve the people. He questioned the disconnect between the reduction in electricity tariffs and the continued financial burden on households.
In closing, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed heartfelt concern for the children of Gaza and called upon Muslim nations to come together, stressing that united action would diminish Israel’s influence and power.
