Rain returns to Karachi: Citizens struggle amid power outages and event cancellations

Karachi: Once again, heavy rains have thrown daily life in Karachi into disarray. Torrential downpours across the city have inundated low-lying areas, disrupting traffic flow and causing long traffic jams, making commuting extremely difficult for residents.

As a result of the rain, electricity supply in several areas has been suspended. Dozens of K-Electric feeders have tripped, leaving large parts of the city without power — particularly in areas where waterlogging and power outages are happening simultaneously, compounding citizens’ troubles.

Authorities have expressed concern over further water accumulation in low-lying areas and have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and take all necessary precautions for their safety.

Due to the inclement weather, numerous public and private events across the city have been postponed or cancelled. The combined impact of traffic gridlock, waterlogging, and prolonged power outages has severely disrupted daily life in the metropolis.

While local authorities claim drainage efforts are underway, citizens have complained that the lack of immediate relief is worsening their difficulties.
