COAS Munir holds key meetings with US civil, military leaders during official visit

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, recently wrapped up a significant official visit to the United States, during which he engaged in high-level discussions with key political, military, and diaspora leaders. According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit was aimed at bolstering military cooperation, fostering diplomatic ties, and engaging with the Pakistani-American community.

One of the key events during Field Marshal Munir’s visit was his attendance at the retirement ceremony of General Michael E. Kurilla, the outgoing Commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), in Tampa, Florida. In his remarks, Field Marshal Munir praised General Kurilla for his exemplary leadership and significant contributions toward strengthening the defense relationship between Pakistan and the U.S.

The ceremony also witnessed the transition of CENTCOM’s command to Admiral Brad Cooper. In a show of goodwill and mutual cooperation, COAS Munir extended his best wishes to Admiral Cooper, expressing hope for continued collaboration between the two nations to address shared security challenges in the region.

One of the most notable parts of Field Marshal Munir’s visit was his meeting with General Dan Caine, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. The two military leaders held in-depth discussions on matters of mutual professional interest, with a focus on enhancing military cooperation and ensuring continued joint efforts in addressing global and regional security concerns.

During the meeting, Field Marshal Munir extended a formal invitation to General Caine to visit Pakistan, underscoring the commitment to deepen bilateral military ties and foster long-term collaboration.

Apart from his military engagements, Field Marshal Munir also took time to connect with the Pakistani-American community during an interactive session. In his address, the Army Chief assured the diaspora of Pakistan’s bright future, encouraging them to remain confident in the country’s potential for growth and prosperity.

He also urged the community to play an active role in attracting investment to Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of economic cooperation between the U.S. and Pakistan. In return, the diaspora reaffirmed their dedication to supporting Pakistan’s development and maintaining strong ties with their homeland.

On the sidelines of his visit, Field Marshal Munir also met with defense leaders from various allied nations, further expanding Pakistan’s defense cooperation on a global scale. These discussions aimed at fostering stronger international military partnerships and promoting shared efforts in addressing emerging security challenges.
