PM Condemns Israeli Strikes, Urges Global Action for Peace

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has denounced Israel’s recent military aggression against Iran, calling it a direct threat to regional peace and stability.

In telephonic conversations with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the premier reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Iran’s sovereignty and regional stability.

He condemned the attacks as violations of international law and the UN Charter, affirming Iran’s right to self-defence under Article 51.

The prime minister also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Iranian people over the loss of innocent lives in the attacks.

Strong Support for Iran and Palestine

PM Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of Israel’s “genocidal campaign” in Gaza and emphasized the urgent need for international intervention.

He expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran and highlighted the country’s supportive stance at the recent UN Security Council emergency meeting.

President Pezeshkian, in return, appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic backing and warned that any continued aggression by Israel would be met with a “more powerful response” from Iran.

He accused the United States of dishonesty in its dual stance—supporting Israel while engaging Iran in nuclear talks.

OIC Session and Regional Unity

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also spoke with Turkish President Erdogan, and both leaders criticized Israel’s actions as blatant violations of sovereignty.

They agreed on the need for collective Muslim unity and called upon the United Nations and international community to take decisive action.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to convene an emergency session to formulate a joint strategy.

He stressed that if the Muslim world remains divided, each state could face similar threats in the future.

The Prime Minister confirmed that Deputy PM & Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar would represent Pakistan at the upcoming OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Istanbul.

He also congratulated President Erdogan for being honored by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum.
