Islamabad : Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Yahya Afridi, has reaffirmed the judiciary’s unwavering commitment to protecting fundamental rights, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring justice is served fairly, impartially, and without unnecessary delays.
In his New Year message, Justice Afridi extended his warm greetings to the people of Pakistan, the legal community, fellow judges, and all those who seek justice through the courts.
He emphasized that the Constitution entrusts the judiciary with the crucial task of ensuring justice is not only done but is seen to be done—a responsibility that becomes even more meaningful when viewed from the perspective of ordinary citizens who come to the courts seeking hope and fairness.
Justice Afridi underscored the importance of a justice system that prioritizes the people. He called on the judiciary to use 2026 for reflection, reform, and a renewed commitment to serving the public effectively.
Stressing that justice should be more than just a principle written on paper, he highlighted that it must be accessible, dignified in procedure, and responsive to the needs of women, children, marginalized groups, and those from remote or underserved areas.
Looking ahead, Justice Afridi outlined the judiciary’s priorities for the upcoming year, focusing on reforms aimed at making justice more accessible, reducing delays, improving transparency, and leveraging technology to enhance efficiency.
He added that these efforts would focus on what matters most to the public: timely decisions, clear and understandable procedures, and courts that are approachable, fair, and humane.
Expressing confidence in the judiciary, Justice Afridi noted that with professionalism, integrity, and collective dedication, the institution would continue to build public trust and uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution.
He concluded by reaffirming the judiciary’s commitment to serving every citizen with fairness, independence, and compassion, expressing hope that 2026 would bring renewed confidence in a justice system that reaches every corner of Pakistan.
