Islamabad: Pakistan observed its 78th Independence Day with heartfelt enthusiasm and national unity, as citizens across the country came together to celebrate the freedom of the homeland and pay tribute to the theme of “Mark-e-Haq” — symbolizing the triumph of truth and justice.
A major commemorative event took place at the Jinnah Sports Complex in the federal capital, where President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, along with senior military officials, ministers, lawmakers, and diplomats, were in attendance.
The ceremony featured a spectacular military parade, showcasing disciplined units from the Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force, Punjab Rangers, and FC Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Adding to the occasion’s significance, troops from Türkiye and Azerbaijan also joined the march-past, reflecting strong defense partnerships.
As the national flag was raised, the audience rose to their feet in unity, with thunderous chants of “Pakistan Zindabad” ringing through the venue. Military bands performed stirring national melodies that heightened the patriotic mood.
Across the nation, towns, cities, and villages were adorned with vibrant lights, flags, and decorations. Citizens, young and old, participated in parades, rallies, and cultural events, proudly displaying the national colors. Markets were abuzz with people purchasing flags, themed clothing, and other patriotic items.
Special ceremonies were held under the Mark-e-Haq banner to honor the nation’s martyrs and veterans, with the Punjab government leading efforts to commemorate their sacrifices through various tribute programs.
