Brussels / Kabul (Web Desk): Rising alarm is spreading internationally over the growing presence and activities of extremist networks and proxy groups operating from Afghan territory.
Recent analyses suggest that Afghanistan is increasingly being used as a safe haven for both regional and global terrorist organizations, with potential security implications now threatening neighboring countries and the wider region.
The European Union has expressed deep concern, urging the Kabul administration to prevent its land from being exploited for plotting or executing attacks against other nations. In a formal statement, the EU called for impartial and robust action against all militant factions, emphasizing that stopping threats originating from Afghan soil is critical for preserving international peace.
Global security assessments highlight increasing risks, pointing out that several militant groups benefit from secure hideouts and logistical support within Afghanistan. These developments endanger not only Pakistan but also neighboring Central Asian countries and Iran.
Observers note that the interim government in Kabul has not taken adequate steps to counter these networks, allowing extremist groups to strengthen their foothold. International organizations and human rights advocates warn that unless the Afghan Taliban curbs backing for groups like Fitna al-Khawarij and other similar factions, Afghanistan risks heightened global isolation and the imposition of severe economic sanctions.
