Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a series of emergency measures to address Pakistan’s ongoing economic and energy challenges. In a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister’s House, it was decided that the weekly public holiday will be observed on Friday to conserve energy and reduce government expenditures.
The Prime Minister emphasized that, given global economic pressures, austerity and simplicity are the only viable options. A special committee, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, has been formed to monitor daily savings measures. All initiatives will undergo third-party audits to ensure transparency and proper utilization of public funds.
Officials have been instructed to provide photographic records of government vehicles taken out of service as part of austerity measures. Additionally, government offices will strengthen the “work from home” system, with all ministries required to submit regular detailed reports to the Prime Minister’s Office.
PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that despite global challenges, the government is taking every possible step to stabilize the economy. He directed all federal ministries and divisions to implement austerity and energy-saving measures immediately and effectively.
