Islamabad : In line with its tradition of humanitarian response at sea, the Pakistan Navy carried out a successful rescue operation in the Arabian Sea, saving foreign crew members stranded due to a technical fault on a commercial vessel.
Security sources said the ship MV Gautam, which was travelling from Oman to India, suffered a mechanical failure while en route, leaving its crew unable to continue the journey.
As the situation worsened, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Mumbai sought emergency assistance from Pakistani authorities.
According to Neo News Islamabad Bureau Chief Javed Baloch, the Pakistan Navy immediately responded to the distress call and dispatched the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency vessel Kashmir to the location.
Rescue teams safely evacuated six Indian nationals and one Indonesian crew member from the disabled ship.
Officials confirmed that the rescued personnel were provided with emergency assistance and care after being brought to safety.
Security sources added that the Pakistan Navy remains committed to safeguarding lives at sea without discrimination and continues to respond swiftly to maritime emergencies regardless of nationality or background.
