California : The American streaming platform Netflix has introduced a new feature that allows users to play video games on their TV screens. With this feature, users can use their mobile phones as controllers to enjoy various games on smart TVs or streaming devices like Roku.
Netflix’s co-CEO Greg Peters announced at Bloomberg’s “Screen Time Conference” that this move will usher in a new era in the world of entertainment. He also revealed that the company is working on social games that friends and family can play together in the near future.
Initially, Netflix has launched several popular games including Boggle Party, Tetris Time Warp, Pictionary Game Night, and Lego Party, which users can play on their big screens. To connect the mobile phone as a controller, users need to scan a QR code.
Allen Taskin, head of Netflix’s gaming division, stated that the company is improving its cloud gaming system as part of a long-term plan to transform Netflix from a streaming service for movies and shows into a complete entertainment platform.
