Islamabad : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has made it clear that no obstacle will be allowed to hinder Pakistan’s progress and development. Speaking in the National Assembly after the passage of the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the Prime Minister called on the Afghan Taliban government to take decisive action against terrorist groups using Afghan soil to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
The Prime Minister emphasized that foreign involvement in recent terrorist incidents in Islamabad and Wana was evident. He vowed that Pakistan would respond decisively to these external threats, as it has in the past. PM Shehbaz warned that terrorist organizations, such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), supported by foreign forces, will not be allowed to disrupt Pakistan’s peace and development.
In addition, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace in Afghanistan and called for a sincere dialogue between both countries. He offered full cooperation for regional stability and development while praising the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s security forces in the fight against terrorism.
Addressing the approval of the constitutional amendment, PM Shehbaz expressed gratitude to coalition partners for their support and consultations. He highlighted the importance of the Charter of Democracy, particularly the establishment of a Federal Constitutional Court, as mandated in the amendment.
PM Shehbaz also underscored the need for an end to abusive political language, stressing that national unity and cohesion are critical for Pakistan’s economic growth. He also praised the public support for the government’s decision to grant the title of Field Marshal to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, a decision now enshrined in the Constitution.
