A devastating fire broke out in a multi-story residential complex in northern Hong Kong, leaving at least 13 people dead, including one firefighter. The blaze, which was classified as a fourth-degree fire, has been raging for several hours, with fire crews battling to bring it under control.
The tragic incident has also left multiple people injured, with police confirming that several individuals remain trapped inside the building. Rescue efforts are ongoing to free those still stranded.
The residential complex, which consists of eight blocks and houses around 2,000 apartments, is home to approximately 5,000 residents. In the wake of the fire, nearly 700 people have been relocated to temporary shelters.
Firefighters have been working tirelessly to contain the flames, but some have also sustained injuries during the operation. The complex’s buildings are 31 stories tall, and authorities are continuing their rescue operations, with concerns that the death toll may rise further.
