Washington : The United States and Israel have intensified military operations against Iran, conducting extensive airstrikes on key nuclear and military installations across the country.
According to Emil Baird Cooper of the US Central Command, approximately 2,000 sites in Iran have been targeted, including 17 naval vessels and a submarine. He claimed that Iranian naval forces no longer operate in the Arabian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, or Gulf of Oman.
The US operation involves 50,000 personnel and 200 fighter jets, with Iranian ballistic missiles and drones also neutralized. Officials described the campaign as a decisive effort to halt Iran’s nuclear and military ambitions.
Separately, Israel took responsibility for an airstrike on an underground nuclear facility, where work on critical components for nuclear weapons was reportedly underway. Israeli authorities said the strike relied on precise intelligence, while Iran has not yet issued an official statement.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed that Iran will not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons and emphasized safeguarding American embassies and military personnel as the top priority.
Operations are expected to continue, and about 9,000 American citizens have already been evacuated from the region. US President Donald Trump stated that Iran’s air force, navy, and leadership have been significantly weakened, and that military action will persist until all objectives are fully met.
