Pakistan and Turkey reaffirm commitment to strengthen bilateral relations, collaborate on regional and global challenges

During a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Baku, both leaders emphasized their shared resolve to enhance cooperation in addressing regional and global issues. The meeting took place on the sidelines of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day Parade.

The discussion included a review of the strong and enduring bilateral ties between Pakistan and Turkey, with both sides reiterating their commitment to deepening collaboration across various sectors, including political, defense, economic, trade, and cultural exchanges.

Prime Minister Sharif expressed his appreciation for the celebrations marking Pak-Turkey Friendship Week, which reflected the historical and strong bond between the two nations.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to transforming the longstanding, fraternal relationship with Turkey into a more comprehensive partnership, expanding beyond traditional ties to include broader areas of mutual interest.

As part of efforts to further strengthen their partnership, both countries agreed that a Turkish ministerial delegation would visit Pakistan soon to explore new avenues for cooperation.

Additionally, the presence of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, highlighted the importance of military and defense cooperation between the two countries.

This meeting marks a significant step in advancing the Pakistan-Turkey alliance, underscoring the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing global challenges and promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
