Mumbai: Bollywood star Kriti Sanon has opened up about the difficulties faced by actors who enter the film world without family ties. Speaking candidly, she highlighted the extra hurdles and judgments outsiders often encounter on their path to stardom.
Since her debut in 2014, Kriti has experienced firsthand how Bollywood favors insiders, and how those without connections must work harder to gain recognition.
“When you don’t belong to a film family, every step forward demands twice the effort. It’s not just about talent—there are constant doubts and biases to overcome,” she said.
She revealed that physical appearance plays a surprising role in casting decisions, with comments about her height, weight, and body type frequently coming her way.
“I’ve been told I’m too tall or too thin for certain roles, which affected my chances regardless of my acting skills,” Kriti shared.
Addressing newcomers, Kriti encouraged resilience in the face of rejection and criticism.
“There will be moments when doors close repeatedly, and people underestimate your dreams. But pushing through those barriers is what separates the successful from the rest.”
Kriti also acknowledged the privilege film industry insiders enjoy but emphasized that the struggles of outsiders shape a unique kind of strength.
“Being from outside the industry means you have to be flawless and more determined, but that journey builds character and grit.”
Beyond acting, Kriti is now making strides as a producer, showing that with perseverance, even those without a legacy can leave a lasting mark in Bollywood.
Her honest insights shine a light on the realities of an industry often glamorized, reminding aspiring artists that passion and persistence remain their most powerful tools.
