Rawalpindi : The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, on Friday announced that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq has so far resulted in the deaths of 274 fighters associated with the Afghan Taliban and Fitna al-Khwarij, while more than 400 others sustained injuries.
In a briefing to the media, Lt Gen Chaudhry highlighted that the Pakistani military has dismantled 73 enemy positions and captured 18 additional strategic locations. Early assessments indicate the destruction of 115 military assets, including tanks, armoured vehicles, and artillery systems.
The DG ISPR explained that the conflict began when Taliban forces fired upon 53 sites across 15 sectors along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Pakistani forces responded effectively, neutralising the attackers and regaining control of key positions.
He added that during the operation, 22 major sites across Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, Nangarhar, Khost, and Paktika were struck, all based on verified intelligence. The strikes targeted military installations only, and efforts were made to avoid civilian harm.
The offensive focused on critical infrastructure, including corps headquarters, brigade and battalion command posts, sector offices, ammunition depots, logistical hubs, and militant hideouts.
Lt Gen Chaudhry noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received a detailed briefing on the operation, including the overall security environment and measures taken to foil enemy plots.
He further warned that recent attacks and cross-border activities point to the involvement of a “master proxy” orchestrating strikes against Pakistan.
