Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a key meeting with Federal Interior Minister and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, where they discussed the prevailing law and order situation in the country along with preparations for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final set to take place on May 3.
During the briefing, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi informed the Prime Minister about the detailed and multi-layered security plan arranged for the PSL final at Gaddafi Stadium.
He explained that strict security arrangements have been enforced both inside and outside the venue, with a large number of security personnel deployed to ensure complete protection for players and fans.
He also shared that a specialized traffic strategy has been developed to facilitate smooth movement across the city and to minimize any disruption for the public during the event.
In addition, modern monitoring and surveillance systems have been installed throughout the stadium premises to ensure real-time oversight and security management.
Mohsin Naqvi further noted that, following the Prime Minister’s directive, spectators will be allowed to attend the final despite earlier austerity measures, enabling cricket enthusiasts to witness the high-profile match live.
The Prime Minister instructed that special care must be taken to ensure that spectators do not face any inconvenience during entry or exit, and stressed that basic facilities such as clean drinking water should be properly arranged.
The Interior Minister also updated the Prime Minister regarding the overall security conditions in the country and the progress of ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
The Prime Minister praised the efforts of law enforcement agencies and reiterated that maintaining public safety remains the government’s top priority.
It is worth mentioning that earlier matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) were held without public attendance due to cost-cutting measures, but later fans were permitted to attend the final match following widespread public demand.
