PM Shehbaz Reaffirms Strong Diplomatic Backing for Iran

ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for Iran at all diplomatic platforms, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), amid growing tensions in the Middle East.

In a telephone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation and restore regional peace.

He stated that Pakistan is monitoring the unfolding regional developments with deep concern and remains committed to a peaceful resolution through international cooperation.

Pakistan Advocates for Peaceful Engagement

During the conversation, PM Shehbaz stressed the need for all parties involved to act responsibly and adhere to international laws and the principles enshrined in the UN Charter.

He called on the global community to support efforts that prioritize de-escalation, constructive engagement, and diplomacy over aggression.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan has always pursued a balanced foreign policy and would continue advocating for peace, particularly during times of regional crisis.

Iran Appreciates Pakistan’s Role

President Pezeshkian thanked PM Shehbaz for Pakistan’s principled stance and vocal support during the recent hostilities involving Iran.

He commended Islamabad’s constructive diplomatic role, which he said contributed meaningfully to efforts for a peaceful resolution.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact and promote unity among Muslim nations.

They expressed a shared commitment to fostering regional stability, strengthening bilateral relations, and upholding mutual interests through regular diplomatic coordination.

The phone call comes at a crucial time as global powers call for restraint and regional actors seek peaceful solutions amid growing uncertainty in the Middle East.
