Finance Bill 2025-26 Set for NA Approval Today

ISLAMABAD: The Finance Bill 2025-26 will be tabled in the National Assembly today (Thursday) by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, marking the final phase of Pakistan’s federal budget process.

The session, scheduled to begin at 11:00am with Quranic recitation, will formally seek the National Assembly’s approval for the bill that empowers the government to enact its fiscal strategy for the new financial year commencing July 1.

Major Budgetary Approvals Finalized

On Wednesday, the National Assembly completed the review and approval of demands for grants from 33 federal ministries and divisions.
Out of the total demands, 136 worth over Rs 9.95 trillion were approved, while more than 750 opposition cut motions were defeated by majority vote.

Key allocations include Rs 34.04 billion for the National Food Security Division, Rs 356.8 billion for the Interior and Narcotics Control Division, and over Rs 3.55 trillion for the Finance Division.

Additionally, over Rs 1.74 billion was granted to the Human Rights Division and its affiliated bodies.

Next Steps in Fiscal Roadmap

The Finance Bill’s passage is critical to formalizing the government’s revenue and expenditure plans.

The bill includes tax measures, development allocations, and reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy and enhancing public sector efficiency.

With today’s approval, the government will gain legal authority to implement its 2025-26 financial roadmap.
