Rawalpindi: A dangerous surge in dengue cases has been reported in the city, with over 413 patients admitted to government hospitals and more than 400 receiving treatment at private medical facilities. Health experts warn that the next six weeks could see a severe outbreak of the virus.
Anti-dengue teams have surveyed over 4.9 million homes, discovering dengue larvae in more than 130,000 locations. In designated hotspot areas, 17,862 sites were found positive for larvae, while even in cleared areas, 113 locations still had larvae presence.
Due to negligence, 13 workers were suspended, and three officials were penalized for submitting fake reports. The district administration has registered 3,894 FIRs, sealed 1,722 properties, and imposed fines exceeding Rs 9.7 million.
In response to the alarming situation, anti-dengue operations have been intensified across Rawalpindi to contain the spread.
