Jeddah : Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has urged the international community to take decisive action against Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Speaking at the Open-Ended Extraordinary Ministerial Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Executive Committee, he emphasized the need to uphold international law and honor prior commitments made to the group of eight Arab-Islamic nations, including Pakistan, regarding Palestine.
Ishaq Dar described the session as critically important for the Palestinian cause, which he called a central concern for the Muslim world and a core responsibility of the OIC. He warned that ongoing developments not only threaten the Palestinian people but also jeopardize the credibility of international law, the UN Charter, and the broader multilateral system.
He strongly condemned Israel for repeatedly violating ceasefire agreements, expanding illegal settlements, and attempting annexation, stressing that these actions undermine diplomatic efforts and endanger prospects for lasting peace in the Middle East. He specifically criticized Israel’s recent moves to convert parts of the occupied West Bank into so-called state property, describing them as a direct attack on Palestinian rights and dignity.
Highlighting Pakistan’s active role as a member of the UN Security Council, the Board of Peace, and the group of eight Arab-Islamic countries, Ishaq Dar called on the OIC to demand the reversal of all Israeli measures amounting to de facto annexation.
He further urged strict enforcement of the Gaza ceasefire, immediate reconstruction of the territory, and a time-bound political process leading to the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The deputy prime minister also highlighted the need for the OIC to support the Kashmiri people in securing their right to self-determination.
