Riyadh : Former Saudi intelligence chief Prince Turki Al-Faisal has warned that escalating tensions between Israel and Iran are largely influenced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Al-Faisal claimed that Netanyahu made six trips to the United States to meet former President Donald Trump, urging him to consider military action against Iran.
According to Al-Faisal, the current conflict is “Netanyahu’s war,” noting that the Israeli leader allegedly seeks constitutional changes to grant himself the power to make unilateral decisions without legal or institutional constraints. He suggested that internal political ambitions may be a key factor behind Israel’s aggressive approach.
The former intelligence chief also remarked that Trump was reportedly surprised by Iran’s strong responses to military threats. Previous US officials, Al-Faisal said, had repeatedly cautioned Trump about the risks of confronting Iran, emphasizing potential consequences.
Al-Faisal further warned that any confrontation with Iran could result in attacks on US military bases in the region, with serious repercussions that would affect American forces. His comments come amid heightened regional tensions, raising fears of broader escalation that could destabilize the Middle East and disrupt global security and energy markets.
