Pakistan expresses regret over veto of Gaza ceasefire resolution at united nations

New York: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram (Note: As of earlier reports; your text says Asim Iftikhar, which may need verification), stated during a UN Security Council session that Pakistan stands firmly with the Palestinian people and will continue its efforts toward the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

He described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as extremely alarming, highlighting that innocent Palestinians are being martyred every day, children are dying from hunger, and even hospitals are being targeted.

Pakistan, along with 10 non-permanent members of the Security Council, presented a resolution calling for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the provision of humanitarian aid. However, the United States vetoed the resolution, which Pakistan strongly regretted.

Asim Iftikhar (per your source) urged the international community to raise its voice for the Palestinian people, stating that silence will not stop the bloodshed of the oppressed.
