Pakistan Eager to Challenge India in CAVA Nations League Showdown

ISLAMABAD : The Pakistani volleyball team is gearing up for a highly anticipated face-off against India in the upcoming Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Nations League.

Team captain Murad Jehan expressed strong confidence, emphasizing their readiness and determination to win decisively against their traditional rivals.

Originally set to be hosted in Pakistan, the event was moved to Uzbekistan after India declined to travel.

The tournament will now take place from May 29 to June 4.

Confident Leadership

“We have a skilled squad, and we’re aiming for a clear victory over India,” said Jehan during a press briefing at the Pakistan Sports Complex.

Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chairman Mohammad Yaqoob also addressed the media, sharing the federation’s strategic focus on growing the sport despite financial limitations.

Expanding International Presence

Yaqoob highlighted Pakistan’s upcoming commitments in the volleyball calendar, noting that along with defending their title in the Nations League, national squads will participate in six more international competitions this year.

“The PVF remains committed to player development. Our senior, U-19, and U-16 teams are training intensively for success,” he added.

Busy Volleyball Season Ahead

Following the Nations League, Pakistan’s senior squad is scheduled to compete in the Asian Volleyball Confederation Nations Cup in Bahrain from June 17 to 24.

A home series against Russia is also planned later in June.

The U-19 team will participate in the FIVB U-19 World Championship in Uzbekistan from July 24 to August 3.

Meanwhile, the U-16 squad will head to the CAVA U-16 Championship in Uzbekistan (June 10–16) and then the Asian U-16 Championship in Thailand (July 20–27).

Global Goals

Pakistan’s volleyball ambitions extend further with participation in the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain this October.

Both men’s and women’s teams are also set to compete in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia this November.
